M.R.Madhava Warrier was born on November 28, 1893, on the auspicious KARTHIKA star at Malakkezhu Kizhakke Varrium of Chengannur Taluk. A Graduate from Trivandrum University College he further took degree in Law from Bombay University. He started his practice as a Lawyer in the District court of Quilon, the then district head quarters of Chengannur. He decorated the posts of an eminent Lawyer, Quilon Municipal Chairman, Travancore Legislative assembly member, etc. When the struggle for freedom was spreading like a forest fire he changed his place of stay to Trivandrum from Quilon and offered himself to the maximum capacity to form the Travancore State Congress along with Shri. Pattom Thanu Pillai, Shri. T.M. Varghese, Shri.C.Kesavan and Shri.C.Narayana Pillai. Though he was a leading advocate he took Mahathmaji's advice to quit his profession and took part in the freedom struggle.
Thrilled by this movement he took over as the Chief editor of the State Congress daily "Malayali" . Shri. Warrier was capable of bringing out a morning and evening edition of the "Malayali" which made Sir.C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer greatly annoyed. Shri. Warrier used his wisdom and pen to its maximum use, as a hurricane to fan the fire of the freedom struggle. The large meeting held at Chengannur Mills Ground presided by Shri. Warrier and the Police firing that followed still lingers in the minds of the people as a monument of struggle and perseverance. He was beaten up by C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer's goondas, and later was imprisoned, and accused of treason.
The Malayali paper was banned, and the press was confiscated Sir.C.P. even prevented him from practicing as a Lawyer for two years.
These tortures could not move him from his ultimate goal. A great person who offered him self and everything in his life could breathe the air of freedom before he died on October 4, 1952, at the age of 59.
